You need to supply us with a valid prescription that you have obtained from a registered optometrist/optician.

This prescription will give us all the necessary details to understand what lenses best suit you.

You may already have a copy of your prescription details from your last eye examination or you can ask your optometrist to provide you a copy. Your optometrist will supply you a copy if requested.

If you do not have a prescription, you will need to make an appointment with an optometrist for an eye examination and they will then give you the prescription details.

Your prescription will have several details which will enable us to supply you with the best lens options and lens powers.

Although you will not need to understand all the details, you will need to fill in the prescription details on the order form we provide as part of the ordering process. Our order form should be of a very similar layout to the prescription you receive from your optometrist.

We have a selection process when purchasing our frames and lenses which ensures we provide good quality eyewear in both modern and traditional designs all at an affordable price.

At eyesavers.co.nz, we purchase our eyeglasses directly from international suppliers and pass these savings onto you.

As a general rule the higher your prescription requirements, the thicker and heavier a standard lens becomes so we have options of thinner lenses (called high index lenses) for these higher prescriptions than will still provide you with a thin lens.

We also offer the option of polycarbonate lenses which are thinner than standard lenses and up to 10 times more impact resistance and we recommend these for sports people and children’s eyewear.

We provide a guide to help you with the size of a frame and this is shown as part of the details on every frame page. If you are already wearing a frame, the size details will be on the inside of one of the temples (sides) and look something like 52-17  130. The 52 is the lens diameter, the 17 is the bridge size and the 130 is the length of the temple (side arm).

If this is your first pair of glasses, we suggest the width measurement is the best option to help ensure the frame fits your face shape. This measurement is the distance between the outer edge of the lens on one side of the frame to the outer edge of the lens on the other side of the frame i.e. left to right outer measurement between the two lenses. This measurement does not need to be exactly the same but similar.
